Major Tourist attractions:
- The West Coast has a unique and wonderful atmosphere that you will experience when you visit the areas of the West Coast. You will experience the salty ocean air and the changing winds that brings forth refreshing rain or enjoyable warmth. The West Coast offers brightly coloured fynbos on a beautiful landscape. You will be able to enjoy the bird life by spotting the flamingoes that colour the sky pink and the beautiful white-breasted gulls that fly high above the gannets with their distinct yellow-painted faces.
- The West Coast is a cultural brio of museums, monuments, mission stations and hauntingly beautiful coastal wild flower reserves unraveling across green hills. Within the first two months of the first good spring rains, wild flowers explode across the landscape in brilliant profusion. The solitary coast's scenic beauty is challenged only by rich culinary experiences of plump mussels from the Bay, oysters, calamari, crayfish and abalone in season or linefish pulled from the Benguela Current's cold waters and fried to gold. All are best enjoyed at a sunset fish-braai dined with good wine and the spontaneous, light-hearted banter of hard-working, hard-playing locals. Sapphire seas, icy waters and snow-white foam; shrieking gulls, groaning lobster baskets and boats pulled up beyond the waterline. It's said that on a clear, West Coast day, you can live forever.
- The ostrich farms in Oudtshoorn are a great tourist attraction. Guests can eat an ostrich steak, buy ostrich products, watch ostriches hatching and ride the adult ostriches. Oudtshoorn is also home to the world renowned Cango caves and the wildlife ranch which has over 300 animals like crocodiles, alligators and cheetahs. In Oudtshoorn there is the well known Butterfly Show Farm and Angora Rabbit Show Farm.
