Fynbos Estate

Logo for Fynbos Estate
Fynbos Estate has 300 hectares of wine farm and mountain nature reserve in the Paardeberg mountains just an hour from Cape Town.

Having started simply as a working farm in a beautiful part of the country, we have renovated the old Victorian farmhouse and outbuildings as a guest house and workshop and retreat centre accommodating 16 - 20 people..  We also renovated an old barn to form the pavilion which is an indoor/outdoor space with wonderful views of the mountain and can seat up to 70

The facilities we offer include a venue for:

  • Country getaways for families, friends and interest groups
  • One and two day getaways with a focus on nature and/or food and wine depending on the needs of the group ( ie hiking, birding, wine tasting, eating, cookin)
  • Hands-on winemaking, blending and tasting getaways.
  • A venue for workshops and retreats.
  • A venue for planning, training and team building workshops
  • Conference facilities
  • End-of-year and other functions, parties, launches
  • Weddings
  • Conservation related events
  • Concerts, and fairs
  • A route for mountain bikers and a mountain for hikers

We enjoy making delicious food using our own produce wherever possible, but guests can also self cater or part cater if they choose. Alongside this goes our passion for making wine in the traditional way, and our small winery produces 4 Dragonridge wines  which have done well competitively and are reasonably priced. Wine events such as wine tasting, blending and tasting and winemaking have proved very popular as team building events.

Despite the range of facilities offered and the value we place on comfort and good food and wine,  we have remained a working farm, take limited bookings and are flexible and relaxed in planning and running events.
