Close to the Hartbeespoort, adjoining The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre De Wildt, lies The Cheetah Lodge De Wildt. Set in a lush, spreading garden, the lodge nestles against a lower north-facing slope of the Magaliesberg range. It is a tranquil and restful refuge from city life, yet just an hour or so away from Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Built of honey-coloured stone taken from the site, irs original master-builder owner created a two-storeyed home that blends perfectly with its natural surroundings. Most of the bedrooms and reception areas have breathtaking views to the north. In the garden is a charming little chapel, also built from mountain stone, which can seat 40 people.
The indigenous bush and forest of the area supports a number of bird species, and there are occasional sightings of antelope, jackal, brown hyaena and other wildlife. A mineral rich borehole fountain providespure running water.
Warm hospitality and personal attention are the hallmarks of the Lodge - candlelit dinners with soft background music, artworks and decor with a wildlife theme, a cosy living-room fire in winter. Service is professional and welcoming. Accommodation consists of 8 spacious rooms, tastefully decorated and all with en-suite bath or shower. The King Cheetah Suite has an extra bedroom and seperate entrance.
Accommodation includes home-cooked meals prepared from fresh produce - a 3-cource dinner and 2-cource breakfast. Weather permitting, breakfast is served on veranda which overlooks the lovely garden and impressive vista to the north.
We provide meals for up to 40 people ( group lunches, weddings and other functions), and newly built confrence centre accommodates 24. Special packages which, includes accommodation, are available, and teambuilding with wildlife theme can be arranged.
The Lodge is about 90 minutes from OR Tambo International Airport and about 45 minutes from Lanseria International Airport.
