History of Mpumalanga:
Mpumalanga Province was known as the Eastern Transvaal Province. It has since been renamed ‘Mpumalanga’ which means ‘place where the sun rises’. This meaning comes from the Siswati language and describes the region perfectly as the sun makes the area come alive with breathtaking views.
The Mpumalanga Province comprises of two regions: the highveld and the lowverld. Region. Each region boast beautiful scenery which is waiting to be viewed and explored.
The Nelspruit area is the legislative capital of the Mpumalanga Province. This town is the administrative and business centre of the Lowveld region. This area is the perfect staring point if you want to explore this province.
Mpumalanga allows you to go back in history and return to the days of the ‘Gold Rush’. There are many museums which will allow you to view more of the history that the Mpumalanga region holds and has to offer you. |
