History of the Limpopo Province:
The Limpopo Region was home to the Pedi people, which are of great African decent. They formed the homelands in this province under the guidance of Chief Sekhukhane. They adapted the harsh terrain and landscape to suit their needs and requirements.
The invasion by Europeans into this region caused many bloody and historical battles. Limpopo Province hosts the ‘Long Tom’ statue which is a symbol of the battles fought in this region. The statue reflects many heroes and stories from the Anglo-Boer War.
Overtime the Voortrekkers and Missionaries brought western education with them which they used to help teach the indigenous people of this region. This is whole the area and the people of this region evolved.
